A Dreamer. A Doer. A Survivor.
Hi, friends! I’m Debbie. I’m a mom, a wife, an entrepreneur, and a cancer survivor. My life philosophy is to find your passion and pursue it. One of the ways I do that is by celebrating the firsts in my life. Those firsts can be everything from your first smile of the day to the first day of the month (and everything bigger and smaller in between). Everything has a first!
I’ve been an entrepreneur since age 12 when I began selling homemade candles. Since then I’ve launched several different companies, all related to clothing, because I love fashion! But I’ve been blessed with both right- and left-brained talents and have a degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma. After college, I married my sweetheart, Randy, and was hired by a Big Eight international accounting firm. By age 32, I had achieved an informal education in business ownership and was thriving as a wife, mother, accountant, entrepreneur and public speaker.
A bump in the road came when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease – a form of lymphatic cancer.
Rather than seeing cancer as a life-threatening tragedy, I approached my treatment with gusto and was cured within a matter of months. I’ve been cancer-free since 1995 and, though I never felt particularly cursed to have encountered the disease, it did make me even happier to be here!
What’s With The Egg?
Eggs are such amazing things, aren’t they? They’re fragile, yet hold new life. For me, they symbolize new beginnings and opportunities. I believe everyone has creativity inside that is just waiting to burst out of the shell! My Happy First egg is a reminder to wake up every day and take advantage of the fresh start.
Why Happy First?
Happy First is a movement born of my personal philosophy. I celebrate all the firsts: the first day of every month, the first big milestones in life, the first moments of living each day. I created my Happy First clothing line and accessories, to ask the question, “What is happiness to you?” – and to inspire you to discover the answer. Whether that means taking new action, adjusting an outlook, or simply finding a way to wear happiness on your sleeve, Happy First is your catalyst for identifying that first step. Here on my blog (and through my business), I want to inspire you to pursue your passions and discover your infinite capacity for true happiness. I believe we are all capable of achieving true, enduring, life-altering happiness.
